We are about to sell my wife's 2001 (51) plate S3. It occurs to me that when we advertise it for sale I'm bound to be asked if it's a 210 or 225 bhp version. Personally I can't see 15bhp amoungst 200 making a massive difference but it would be handy to know. So.... How can I tell which version I've got ? Thanks

Have a look at the engine code.

IIRC:

APY and AMK are 210

BAM is 225

Thanks for the quick reply. I've popped the bonnet and it's got AMK stamped on a little lug on the engine block. - So that sorts out that one - it's a 210.

Do you think that this affects resale value at all ? or will the following out-weigh any resale difference. - The car is mint, 1 owner from new, FASH, 50K miles and still under manufacturer's warranty

to be honest, i think it has very little impact.

IIRC the 225 had a slightly better turbo, but unless someone is planning on doing serious (300bhp+) mods to it, it wont effect them much.

I wouldnt mention it in the ads - wait for someone to ask.

It was my understanding that the turbo was the same on both. I have heard that most 210's make closer to 225 anyway and they both remap to the same kind of figures.

Chances are that it may well make a difference to the sales price as some people will be looking for a 225 believing it to be better.

turbo identical, just an ECU remap

both chip to the same 260+bhp for little cost
