Sorry all just another dull tyre question!
I have just bought some estorils with 225 50 15 front tyres and 245 45 16 rears that need replacing. I like the feel of the larger rear tyres but the fronts rub on full lock. Can I use 215 45 15 front to keep the 45 profile or could anyone suggest any other sizes?
Cheers!

For your model year the 225/50R15 tyres are only specified for the 500 with PAS (in the TVR Owner's Manual). For all other engine variants, both PAS/non-PAS it quotes 205/55R15 front tyres. Rears are quoted as 225/50R16 for all models.

I have 225 50 15 tyres on the fornt of my Chimaera and they don't touch the bodywork on full lock.

Other posts suggest that some cars have tyres as narrow as 205's fitted.

215 size is tricky to find now I believe on 15" rims, tried to find some myself over the last year but had to make do with some second hand ones. As has been said you've got to go 205/55/15 to keep the rolling radius pretty much the same.

Thanks Brian, What size do you have on the rears?
I am aware that I should be running 205 55 15 but am not keen on the beach buggy look. I had 205 55 15 on the imola's I have in the garage. I guess I could just live with a smaller turning circle and stick with the 225's. The bible states that a 4.0 with PAS should be using the 225 50 15's.
Hi Simon, good to hear from you, I have found some 215 45 15's at Camskill at a very reasonable price, would this affect the rolling radius?

If they're on the front it won't affect your speedo anyway.

205/55/15 = 607mm R/R
225/50/15 = 606mm R/R

215/45/15 = 574mm R/R (Does this mean that your car will sit 3cms lower at the front scratchchin ??, I think so. Will it matter that much ?? Don't know.)

Going off those figures would it not be 1.5cm lower?

Proabably. I hasten to add that I am a civil servant and not a tyre fitter. All information has been gleaned from the interweb wink

No worries. It looks like you've worked out the rolling diameter not radius

Hi V8 Devil

I have 245 45 16 on the rears of mine.

But I have just noticed that Cider Andy says the 225 front's are specific to the 500 with PAS. That's the model that I have.

..I think you don't get quite as much 'lock' as the manual, with PAS scratchchin
