Because yesterday I finally picked up my wedge!!

Whoop Whoop!

First experiances include getting wet through on the M1 on the 200 mile trip home!

Finding out it leaks (anyone know how to stop water coming in just above the wing mirrors... Theres a gap between the rubber and window!

Finding out you cant shut the doors from inside without the windows down a little!

Realising just how bad the brakes are!

but above all.... Finding out that as an owner of a wedge its impossible to stop smiling!

Its a 350i in macaw yellow. Chassis is excellent, everything seems to work! I love it! So get ready for lots of niggly questions on the bits I find with it!!!

Cheers for all the help thus far getting me converted!

Just taken it for a blast, brakes are getting better! Its doe 400 miles in the last year!

Also, Front end feels very vauge.... sort of seems to wobble through corners... It is wet though, reckon I need to give it a sound thrashing in the dry!

The brakes will come in with use - as you are finding.

I use mine hard a couple of times a day, keeps them tip-top.

Floaty front end could be a number of things. Check the clips on the Anti Roll Bar.
Check the bushes at the top of each shock aborber. Check the shocks themselves.
Tyre pressures have been mentioned.

Oh - and well done - and welcome to the fold!

Welcome. Dont worry the smile will just begin to subside when your ready to have you first set of false teeth fitted. Relativly new in wedge circles myself and i have loved every minute of being parted with my hard earned cash, wouldnt have it any other way now. Great bunch on here who have the knowledge to help you keep that grin on your face. When you go and say goodnight to your wedge later on as i am sure you will, Take the missus with you and show her why the double glazing can wait another year, or the bathroom you have been promising to fit, and tell her there is nothing wrong with the kitchen. then tell her she can have a new hand bag in Macaw Yellow to go with the Wedge. Everyones a winner.

Wedging.....it's a disease, often refered to in medical circles as 'Empty wallet' syndrome
Very difficult to get rid of once afflicted however some relief can be gained from searching Ebay for spare parts.

Common symptoms for Wedging are;
1) Hourly visits to Pistonheads
2) Oil stained fingers
3) Large tool kit
4) Wet hems on jeans from puddle in footwell
5) Wet shoulder from leaking window
6) Sagging rear pockets from carrying multitester 24/7
7) Twisted neck from staring at reflection of self in wedge when driving past large shop windows

Other afflictions often encountered with the above disease;

Magpie syndrome......notoriously attracted to shiney alloy and stainless steel bits
Hearing problems (two types)....
Selective deafness, especially when other half wants to take you shopping on a sunny day.
Sound paranoia (minor rattles and squeaks appear to get louder the further you get from home!)

Magic underclothing Syndrome....underpants take on a seemingly magic ability to turn from white to brown within 30m of a roundabout (10m when its damp)

This is not intended to be a complete list of the symptoms and other more knowledgeable Sufferers, who no doubt will be well versed in the later more advanced symptoms will be along shortly to add to the list.
I myself have been plagued by the illness only for a mere 7yrs so cannot comment much further, but my sympathies are with you in your hour of need!

P.S Welcome to Wedging...your'e going to have a ballsmile
