Right, been looking in to adding some exhaust wrap onto my 205 MI16
Naturally being a reader of ph(wink) im sceptical of power gains, but the reduction in under bonnet temps and noise/vibration from the manifold itself are appealling.

But my question is this: There seems to be a massive range of companies selling this stuff at various prices, but what is the best looking at the more budget end of the scale?

btw, im aware in rapidly decreases the life of a ferrous manifold/downpipe, but the price of 205 manifold/exhaust systems is so low, i think its worth a shot.

Oh, and what are you peeps using to secure the wrap?

Cheers, Badders.

There are quite a lot of places that sell the wrap Some shops on eBay have some wrap and also daemon tweaks too.

To secure them you can buy Manifold wrap clips. Kind of the same idea as cable ties but these are metal they wrap around the branches.

It'll definately reduce under bonnet temps but I can't see any power gains fron it.

Its certainly stopped the burnt paint on the inside of my footwell since I've done my downpipe in it, it aslo helped put a stop to a melting brake & clutch resevoir yikes

You should make sure you strap it down every few inches, this helps stop it unravelling while you're fitting it and also means that in a few months/years time when it starts to fall apart you only loose small sections rather than the whole thing dropping off. Rather than buy those very expensive stainless steel straps I suggest you buy yourself a roll of stainless lockwire.

Also, ensure you have no top end oil leaks.

Oil + manifold wrap = oil soaked rag+ heat= fire.

I got mine 4 years back from the agriemech (or whatever) web-site because it looked cheapest at the time, but the delivery took it up to a similar level to everyone else.
