Anyone remembers this? Possibly the greatest game ever in my view, loved it. Just wondering where I can obtain a copy of 1,2 and 3. And a really shit computer to play it on.

Download DOSBox first and run through that (It's fairly simple to set up) .

Yuo could also try using the WinUAE Amiga emulator and running the Amiga version downloadable from here on your PC.

What's an Amiga Emulator?

I'll tell you what it's not, it's not the most common reason for admittance into A&E.

(It's actually a program that you run on your PC that allows you to run Amiga games, the software emulates the functionality of the Amiga)

As above, a way of running Amiga based games (really anything from the Amiga's lifetime was also made for the PC) - http://www.winuae.net/ you'll have to google for the OS versions, called Kickstart, 1.2 and 1.3 being the old ones for the Amiga 500, Kickstart 2 for the 500+ and Kickstart 3 for the Amiga 1200. Then go searching for adf format games. Alternatively you can search bittorrent sites for the whole lot.

Here's a quick screen cap showing the WinUAE interface where you can set up the graphics and kickstart version you are running (because later flashier games only worked on the Amiga 1200). Plus a listing of the games I have, some old favourites but I think almost all of them came in one big game pack I found. All you do is load the game adf file into one or more (if needed) of the virtual "disk drives" and away you go.

Ok, I am confused. I didn't realise EOB was designed to be played on an Amiga (is an Amiga a type of computer, or something games run on on a computer(abit like a program to run games?)). I thought it was a DOS based game. I am totally ignorant of all these subjects, I admit it. So please excuse this.

You are joking? You aren't are you! Please say you were out of the country in the early 90s, and not that you are 16 and so don't remember anything so old, otherwise that will make me feel absolutely ancient.

An Amiga is (or was) one of the 2 types of computers that dominated the market between the 8-bit ZX Spectrum and C64 era, and the 16/32 bit PC/Windows era. It had really nice custom graphics and sound chips which PCs struggled to surpass for quite a few years. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiga

Sad to say, I still have the original Eye of the Beholder I+II+III games.

Sadder still, I have Dungeon Master and the Atari ST to play it on in a cupboard just here

When you get DosBox installed, get hold of Ultima Underworld I and II. UU I came out at the same time as Wolfenstein, long before Doom, yet had better 3D graphics and an actual plot!

I still reckon EOB2 to be one of the most fiendlishly difficult games ever. There were some crazy puzzles in there, and the final battle with Dran....when I was 7-8 I used to hide, I hated it! SOOOOOOO difficult! So I download DOSBOX (and don't bother with the Amiga emulator?), and download it from the link posted earlier?

Heh, well, most of my uni work was typed out on an Atari ST (and FaST Basic was great for hacking together software) but given that I worked at Team17, alongside the former editor of Amiga Format and alongside a Lightwave artist who had models in Babylon 5, I don't really have any particular allegiance axe to grind.

From what I remember, only the preliminary stuff for B5 was done on Amigas, all the telly stuff was designed and rendered on PC farms. I know wiki begs to differ...

Where do I find this DOs box, or is it included with the game?

Ok folks downloaded Dosbox, and all three games. However, when I open them I just get a load of files (bits of the game, such as characters and stuff)....how do I get it running?

Once you have installed dosbox (and set up a directory to act as your " c: " ) you need to create a subfolder (remember to keep it at less than 8 characters e.g. EOTB for eye of the beholder) and copy/extract all the files from the zip folder of the game you have downloaded into that subfolder.
Run dosbox (should get a command line with the spoofed C prompt) type cd eotb you will then probably have to "install" the game by typing "setup" or "install" or something (dir /p and find the .exe or .bat files)

How do I set up this directory? I'm computer illiterate. BTW, it did actually open up and run the game, when I right clicked on the folder marked 'start', and clicked 'extract all'. I don't know if it'll open up again though.....not tried yet!
