Need to get a replacement gear knob, cause the leather has worn through. Thought, simple enough, will give my holden dealer a ring. $AU646 is what it costs... You can't just buy a gear knob, you have to buy the whole assembly. I assume that vauxhall have got the same parts and numbers.

So, look after your gear knobs, cause each gear change could cost you 20p!

What car is it for Raggyman?
The most expensive one I have found is a HBD version as they can be hard to get hold of.
Their are normally loads of gearknobs for sale on ebay or at various other places that have been removed from Monaros or other vehicles.

Hi mate, it should still fit I think just the leather boot/skirt is different. The actual shifter head should swap over ok.
There is like a small cable tie holding the leather boot to the shifter. The shifter has a grove around it where it binds over.
You can take it off and just use your VX boot with the new shifter nob Id say.

Maybe just email the dudes to confirm, but thats what I recon. I separated them on my VT2 and put them back together with I fitted the rip shifter, I didnt actually need to but it was easier to see how the nob clicked onto the shaft. No ooh eer's please smile

HSV GTS gearknob with the VT/VX interior? so none of the silver stuff on it?
Does it have HSV on it? I am guessing it does thus the price difference.
The V2 series 1 Monaro from that vintage came with a leather gearknob, they are about $85.
I can ask my spare parts man for a price if you like when I next see him.

Yeah, got my dealership in Mackay, but apparently you can only get the HSV one with the complete assembly. Might just go the standard one and see if I can pull the hsv bit off it. But won't do that until I get the new one..

That would make sense as the HSV one had a shortened height stick so would need its own boot.
