335 in E91/Touring form - i or d

If buying an E91 Touring in Automatic, which would be the better engine for fun-factor: 335d or 335i?

it's a difficult one until you mention 'fun'

surely the noise, rev range and extra performance of the 'i' makes a compelling case?

I've had a 335d touring and currently run a 335i Auto at the moment (courtesy of BMW until I get a manual in week 42). In my opinion the d engine suits the auto box better - the extra tourque makes the d subjectively feel quicker, especially around town. Of course, with the diesel you do not get the noise... If you really want to go for an auto box, it's a tough choice, although personally I'd probably go for the diesel.

Is there really a difference in rev range though? Yes the petrol will rev higher, but doesn't the d start from 1750rpm and go onto 5000?

Plus if you're up for getting a remap done then the d is the way to go. 350bhp/700Nm - yes please
