Just noticed that it's not working. I have checked the fuse & that is ok but I can't see the fan in order to check the supply & see if the motor has seized.
Anyone got an idea where to look?
It's a 93 model if that makes a difference.
Cheers

Pete

Left of battery, hidden in the inner wing.

How do you get to it? I'm not going to like the answer am I?

Not really. Good news is some of the early cars were fitted with a recirc flap which makes it a little easier (to find the rivets hidden in teh sealant!). Worst case is having to drop all the heater box + matrix and lower dash...

You can get at the multiplug best to check that first, I reckon its the resistor pack that goes before the motor, you might just be able to change that without stripping everything. It isn't a 10min job tho.

Thanks Dave, I really appreciate the help. There seems to be a block behind the carpet just before the battery cover. I guess that must be the one. I'll have to take out the battery later but assuming it is the resistor pack you say it may be possible to change it without a full strip. I guess you mean by levering the panel out enough to get access or is there another solution?

I'm not certain that all the earlier cars were the same... You just have to strip it & see, I think. Later on they were glued in well & good hehe

There you go: http://tvr3.dspen.com/ph/blower2.jpg
Green thing is the resistor pack.

Ah ha! thats interesting. I have just pulled out the carpet & tested the teminals going into the block. 3 are live & one must be the earth. so it's not the wireing.
But just below & infront of the point where the wire goes into the wing is a section approx 4" by 6" it is solid but covered in a layer of foam. Not sure of the orientation of the picture but the ident in the GRP looks like it could be in the same position. There is a small metal fitting with a rod through it. It looks to me as if the fitting is held by the rod. Question is if I remove the rod what will fall off & where will it go!!

PS
Does you're advice come with a warranty?

Thats the recirc flap I told you about. (Pull the rod out for winter use BTW.) Pull the rod & the flap goes in. Then you have to cut out the sealant & drill the rivets.... you may be able then to swing the motor & fan housing out (lots of sealant...)

Only done it twice, not certain any TVR has std procedures for anything wink

It was a hinged door to allow easy access to the fan! Stuck my hand in & spun the rotor by hand & now its working again! Would this door have been done by TVR? If so i wonder why they stopped fitting them? It seems such a good idea?
If I can get a can of wd40 in there will spraying it into the open end get it near the bearing?

Yet another advantage of early cars, keep it quiet or the latest & greatest brigade will revolt hehe

Yes, I like to think that the newer one's are just replicas of 'proper' Chimaeras!
