Premium comes with wireless remote, harddrive, headset, all the good stuff, If you can spend the few extra bucks go for the premium.

Look forward to seeing you on live smile

You could, but doing so would cost loads more than just buying a premium in the first place.

There is no point to the core, its a waste of space. The premium is the only one to go for... you need the hardrive for some games and it will cost you tons more to upgrade than it would just to buy the £270 premium in the first place.

Core is cheap gaming but it doesnt realy give you what the 360 is about, go for one with a hdd.

The original is the premium or core...its been that way since launch in Dec 2005. They are the two standard ones.

The Core is only really there so Microsoft can say, "Look, the XBox starts at £180" (or whatever it starts at) and maybe for a few people who are only going to use it for the most casual of gaming purposes.

Some shops don't even stock it, only having the Premium and Elite models.

Bear in mind you can probably get the £250 Premium bundled with a £40 game if you shop carefully, and it's an even easier decision. Plus the hard drive means you can get loads of demos off Live Marketplace to mess around with, if you've got broadband.

Core - basic no frills, no game saves unless memory card used.
Premium - HDD, wireless controller, headset, Component cable for HD gaming or Composite AV for non-HD tellies.
£70, give or take difference - HDD alone is that price, or was.
If you play games and like to continue where you left off, and have a HD TV, then the Premium is the only one to go for.
Even on a regular SD TV, it's still the one to go for.
Worth going for the new Elite now, as it has the 120GB HDD - so less deleting of demo games and trailers to free up space for other ones.
Also has HDMI connection for HD TV hook-up, which will open up 1080p gaming if you have a native 1080p TV.
If you want to save a few sheckles, then go for the Halo Premium - still only 20GB drive, but you do get the HDMI connector, so worth it for that alone.
Bear in mind though, it's only worth going for either it or the Elite if your TV has HDMI. If it's somewhat older and has DVI, then you'll need an HDMI-DVI adapter and the digital optical link, which the TV should also have.
If you're running a SD TV, then you'll need to buy the SCART cable to get the best picture on it.
So, if you plan on upgrading/changing to a flat TV (Plasma or LCD) sometime soonish, then you'd be better getting the Halo or Elite, and the SCART. You can probably sell the SCART on ebay to get a few ££ back.

Some Premiums are coming with HDMI now I beleive.

And as for 120gig, I've still ~10gig free on my 20gig version, I dont download masses of demo's (and keep them) and all my media is stored on a PC and played with the media extender option, which is cracking, watched a few episodes of Heroes last night with it.

I think Game are doing a bundle deal with a Premium Xbox plus Forza 2 and MOH Airborne for £279.99.

Once you add on the prices of the games and the memory card to the Core system, it's not too far off the Premium deal price.

You need software to do it, as for reasons unknown the Xbox doesn't support the same SMB file sharing system as every Microsoft PC since Windows 95 (and maybe even 3.11, come to think of it...) but instead uses a slightly customised version of UPNP.

Microsoft offer the software or have it built in for Windows Media Center and Vista (maybe some versions of XP too, don't trust me on that) but otherwise it's a pain to get working.

It will also stream media from an external hard drive or MP3 player connected to the USB port, but will refuse to copy any media files between hard drive and external storage.

PC World doing Forza 2 and Halo 3 bundle with Premium for same price or £299.99
Convinced it was the cheaper of the two prices.
