Can anyone help?
My Griff 1992 4 litre keeps stalling suddenly when ticking over. The engine just suddenly dies without warning. Sometimes the revs drop and it almost stalls and then it picks up again as if it is trying to keep running and then cycles like this untill it finally stalls, as if it's being starved of fuel or air. When this starts to happen I try and blip the throttle to keep it running and it becomes really lumpy and when I pull away it is hesitant and misfires untill the revs pick up and it clears itself and is ok. Once on the move it is ok and is ok at higher revs. The problem only occurs when it drops to tickover and it doesn't always happen; it's intermittent. But it's happening practically every time I drive it and it's really pissing me off and spoiling my enjoyment of driving the car. It's also embarrasing sitting in traffic and it inevitably stalling just as the lights go green! or pulling away with it stuttering and hesitating. The shame of it!! Someome please help. I can't believe someone hasn't experienced the same and knows the solution.
Cheers.

I've never experienced the stepper motor problem, and only ever cleaned one once... (including several LR, RR & SD1's with EFi...) Stalling of this kind has always been down to failed pipes or leaky plenum allowing unmetered air into the engine.
