Sending a DVD to the USA

If I copy some footage off my Canon MV700 and burn it on a DVD, then send that DVD to relatives in the USA, will they be able to watch it? (No smartarse remarks about my abilities as a cinematographer, please!)

So long as one of two things happen.

1, you record it in Region 1 format.

2, they have a multi region dvd player.

unless of course you're just including an MPEG or AVI file on the DVD. Then they could load it on the computer.

Nice idea, but the only DVD burner I own is on the Sony PVR.

Do they need the highquality of the DVD - or will posting a huge video file onto somewhere like Utube or the like not suffice ?

Sadly not. They're still on dialup and don't want to change to broadband.

Almost certainly not unless you can convert it in your video software to NTSC. Most recent UK DVD players and TVs can handle both PAL and NTSC pictures. Kit sold in the US is NTSC-only, unless you buy specialist multi-standard kit.
