A ruff rule of thumb, what would be the cheapest one could finance 30k in terms of monthly payments over say 4 years?

Much depends on the age of the vehicle and the strengh of the customer

early 20's and self employed earning around 70k a year.

Three possbile cars

2000 ferrari 360 (stretching things a bit to be honest - scared of potential running costs as whatever car i get is going to be an everday car, plus don't feel safe leaving it in a car park as i live in apartments in the city centre)
996 911 turbo (more realistic)
2003 merc sl500 (most likely)

30 grand over 48 months at 5% flat works out @ £750 pcm on a straight forward, hire purchase agreement. If you opt for a guaranteed residual value (balloon payment) the payments will be less but the term may have to be shorter depending on the age of the vehicle!

BTW, the SL500 is a tad 'boring' compared to the other two choices!! smile

Why not give a company like Oracke Finance a call, they'd be able to quote you several options and taylor a package to suit your pocket.

He does come out with some rubbish, but I do recall Clarkson remarking that nothing says you have failed quite like buying an SL500 smile

i've had a look on the oracle finance website and saw that they had a new 911 turbo as an example. 25k deposit and 549 a month for 48months plus final payment.

Realistically i don't want to really go over 45k on my next car, which kinda puts the 360 out of reach for now. I've been having a look around and there seems to be a few nice sl500's around for the 35-40 mark (always had a soft spot for them), and the 911 turbo seems an option at this price range.

It would be nice if i could keep my monthly payments under 500, but i don't know if this is realistic at all. Also because of my ages, the type of job i have, and the fact i'm self employed, i don't know if they would want to touch me. Currently driving a 2003 bmw 325 m-tech sport, so whatever i get will be a significant upgrade.

1. 996 Turbo is the best choice of the three

2. Sports & Classic Finance

Push the boat out! Buy a 360! biggrin

But I would say that.....

No, seriously, if i was in your shoes I would probably get the Porsche due to low running costs. My dad was looking at an 2007 Carrera 4S and it could go 20,000 miles WITHOUT a service and cost £400 biggrin . It also can do 30 MPG! Impresive cars.

But its not a Ferrari is it???

Thanks,

Olie
