It's been announced he's leaving Haymarket to become head of PR at McLaren. Not a job I'd want right now!

I cannot see Bish in boring McLaren grey...or even McLaren "victory" orange either.

Mid you, he gets to chop in his CSL for a Merc and gets to move from Butlers Wharf to Woking hehe

Good luck mate wink

True, whenever Brundle is doing his pre-race walkabouts you can spot Bishop in one of his shirts in the background a mile off!

I've yet to confirm it, but I have a feeling he and Peter Windsor are running a book on who gets the greatest number of background "hits" during Brundle's walkabout

He has been 'close' to McLaren for some time and things at F1 Racing are changing...with a number of people moving. He seems a good guy but moving to McLaren....it cannot be for the money and the politics are something else down in Woking.

Any idea who else is moving?

I bet McLaren pay more money than Haymarket though!

Sales numbers are not as they were, the web is possibly to blame and there is not so much to cover when there are still too many of the same characters doing the same old thing. Grandprix.com has the lowdown on who else is leaving...and you will be shocked!!

Not really shocking, Roebuck's going to write for Motorsport, which is still a Haymarket title and Damien will be moving on to something else, the turnaround of Autosport Editors has always been fairly rapid.

I had also heard that Mark Hughes was looking to move from his role as GP editor.

stopped reading his columns years ago following his persistant claims that Fisico was the greatest talent ever and just needed a better car.

Will we be seeing ~Fisico as the McTest driver next year?

The problem is simple, the web is free(ish), and faster with F1 news. The drivers have little or no lives outside of the teams, the technical people cannot speak and 'brand' values are seen by sponsorship managers to be above decent news. The whole business is too controlling and there is too much money at stake to make articles really interesting or contraversial.

Matt Bishop has wanted to work at McLaren for years, but what he is going to do is beyond me, other than upset M-B and the other sponsors, the drivers and the media team that he does not manage!!!
