I've had some 20x30" prints done but i can't find frmaes for love nor money. I'm only after those simple glass fronted borderless ones (like this). The nearest match i can get for a decent price is 50x75cm which is slightly too small in both dimensions. Anyone got reccommendations of where to buy?

Ikea are metric crazy, as my metric size bed and imperial size matress demonstrate irked.

Try PictureLizard. I think they do made-to-measure clip frames (and everything else you can think of). I've used them and they are very good.

not sure, but wilkinsons may have them, they seem to have lots of the clear frames. failing that you could buy a cheap piece of "art" in a suitably sized frame and use that

Have you tried a local high street framer? I've just framed a couple of 20x30" prints in Ikea frames and you're right, they're not ideal. As you say they are indeed metric (more like 19.5x28.5 inches - but the particular photos I had could handle the crop) but the bigger problem was they were cheap and it shows - a bit flimsy and poorly aligned at the corners. So for next time I went into my local framer today. He can make 20x30" frames from about £38 up to over £100 depending on the frame chosen. He stocks ready made frames but only up to 16x20. There must be a high street near you?

If you're looking for nice and simple clip style frames then pop into your local Woolworths, I did a batch order of about 40 posters at the beginning of 2006 for friends and family and while in the local town happened to just be in Woolies and spot 20x30" frames for sale for 2.99 each (they were on special at the time), so after speaking to one of the sales assistants they ordered in a whack of them at this price for me which I picked up by car a few days later... smile

Of course if you're looking for a full on frame, when it comes to something that size you're looking at heading moreso to a local framing shop unless you can find somewhere else keen on such large sizes for normal stock...

Not after fancy stuff, just clip frames but i'm buggered if I'm paying nearly £40 a shot. Will try woolies today.

sorry, but unless you're prepared to cut the prints to fit 'off the peg' frames then £40 each is getting off very lightly indeed for 20"x30".
Custom picture framing is a specialised skill, and most good framers now use entirely acid-free archival materials that don't come cheap.
Most of my framed prints are 12"x16" or smaller, and have usually cost upwards of seventy quid each to frame.

sorry, but I'm not paying £40 for a sheet of glass, some hardboard and 4 metal clips.

A1, bog standard frame, then down to the art supplies shop for a sheet of A1 paper in a colour to form a nice border around the print. Quick google reveals a few around the £20 mark in black or silver aluminium...

Beat me to it. 600 x 840mm should do the job.

Depending on how handy you are, you could make your own...get the glass cut (and lightly ground) at your local glass place then cut a sheet of hardbaord to suit. By the cheapest clip frame for the clips - they just clip into slots in the board that you can cut with a stanley knife. Jobs a good un.

Better still, use MDF as the backing as you will get a better finish on the edge...

There is a shop in a town near me which provided these, they cut the glass to order so it fitted the photos. I think it was pretty cheap as well. I can't remember the name of them, but there must be other art shops doing the same.

Gave up in the end and have got a set of metric ones and will just have to lop 5mm off each end of the pictures.

don't buy wilkinsons frames. Turns out i not only have to chop 5 mil off the pictures but also 2 mil off each edge of the board to make it fit the glass.
