I've had a problem recently with the engine cutting out at low speed when slowing down to a stop at a junction of traffic lights. The problem seems to occur when I'm virtually at a standstill and engage the clutch. The revs seem to drop to zero and the car cuts out. This is becoming quite embarrassing when in traffic, especially if there is a Porsche driver about. The idle speed seems to be fine the rest of the time. Has any body else had a similar problem?

Clean the stepper motor and see if that helps smile

Clean the distributor cap - that was the problem I had. Solved it straight away.

I didn't do this by the way, TVR Fix did it on a service... so I haven't got a clue how you do it! As with any problem, chuck cash at it and it will go away.

I had this happen on my pre-cat griffith. Cleaned the stepper motor, distributor cap, spark plug extender thingies (can't remember the name!) and changed the spark plugs. It worked - although not sure exactly what did it!

I had the same thing a couple of years ago. In my case I found a corroded fuse holder in the ones that dangle down by the battery. Not sure what fuse it was but although it had not blown the fuse & looked ok, when I pulled it out, it & the holder were black with corrosion. Put in a new holder & fuse & been ok since.
Always started ok & ran fine but then it would just die at junctions.

This happenned to me and it was simple. garage had left the airflow meter multiplug disconnected. Also caused the car to run very rich.

Thanks for the info, just been in to pick up my car after having new CV joints and Gaz Gold shocks fitted, so I'll be able to check a few things tonight. I've recently fitted a new stepper motor, new plugs and extenders, so I'll start with the air flow meter, Dizzy and fuses.

By the way, the new Shocks have completely transformed the car, still need to play arround with the damper settings but it is a massive improvment over the previous set-up
