Having recently changed hoses and refilling the system due to the engine overheated and decided it best to get towed home.. (It's a first tow, so Congrats to me!!!!)bounce

When I got home, brought the engine up to temp and the fans would twitch but not run.. Odd me thinks and onto Pistonheads.read

Quick search suggests it's the infamous otter switch is to blame, so having tested everything which suggested all was well, the fans would still not work..confusedcurse

Hmmm, bizaar and just as I'm about to throw the screwdriver through the radiator and give up the fans cut in on full! Warm the engine up, they startbounce, then stop...

Lot of waffle here, but before you all go replacing the otter switches, the problem appears to have been the connections. They looked good and clean and seemed to fit well, it took another mind to come in and realise there was a tiny stone lodge in the back making an insecure connection! - If I ever have this problem again, I know where I'll be looking first!

Give the connections a good clean, smear in vaseline and I've added a section of bicycle inner tube sealed at the top at least (so condensation can escape).

Cleaning and sealing the connectors has been well covered in the past. The terminals in the connectors can be replaced for pennys from the likes of VWP, but you do need a crimp tool for uninsulated terminals, which is well worth it IMHO.
