I posted a question about a cookbook in p&p and it got moved in to food and drink. I understand that some people are passionate about food and drink but I'm not and wanted the answer to a simple question and I'm as likely to get the answer to my question from someone who received the book I was refering to for christmas but isn't a 'foody' (who might peruse p&p) as I was from a passionate fan of food (who may be a stalwart of the food and drink forum).

I can understand the appeal of the 'clubby' feel of these sub-forum but if I wanted to post to that limited audience I would have posted it to food and drink but I didn't and as such I posted to p&p. Please can you not move the posts casually around?

Thanks,

Mark

What's the point in having these sub-forums if they're not going to be used?

Food threads go into food, Computing threads go into computing, drunk threads get deleted, etc .....

I understand the theory of it and believe I already explained why I don't always think it's appropriate in my original post.

OK point taken, but it won't stop the fact that if it appears to be in the wrong forum IT WILL BE MOVED. smile

Yes Al, I understand the current policy. I posted the request specifically in the *feedback* forum to see if the policy could possibly be reviewed and made more flexible.

last time I posted off forum I posted a "this is here for x reason" and it wasn't moved, so maybe already reasonably flexible?

As I said I understand, but with the physical number of daily posts on PH in any one-day, I can assure you that not all of them will be read. However they will be moved around to the forums where they are deemed to be best placed.

i.e. if a food question doesn’t get moved to the Food and Drink forum then I'd very much surprised.smile

Example a TV question in SPL forum.

But if you want an answer to a question - then it's best to ask the experts - whom you'd find in the appropriate forum.

You would run the risk of the post getting lost on pages 2/3/4 of P&P for example, pretty quickly - or you might get a lot of inappropriate responses.

The question you perhaps should ask is - Do you want the usual suspects to post their usual crap thinking they are being funny and then watch as the thread drops out of view and forgotten about or do you want responses related to the original request by people who may also be interested viewing the food & drink forum?

I understand your point but it didn't happen. No one took a pop at me for giving up my previous dietry choice. Everyone was just helpful. It some people had had a pop I'd have told them to piss off or ignored them. Since it got moved to food input has all but dried up. It's not important for this particular instance as I got the info I needed before it got moved and not much of my stuff gets relocated because, generally speaking, I'm careful about where I post it. In this instance I specifically posted it in p&p and not food. Anyway, circles, going in, not my site, just making a suggestion, etc wink

Took it in to account, chanced it, didn't happen. In p&p got lots of very helpful responses, in food I got one... hence the suggestion. Anyhoo...
