anyone on here own a quattroporte?
Discussion
Have been offered a quattroporte for a cheap price. Its 2004 with 17,000 miles. Does anyone here own one and could tell me about mpg, service costs, predicted depreciation curve? Do they attract a lot of attention, and they are not a hairdressers car right?
Is the semi auto really as bad as car magazines make out?
thank you
regards

SJN2004, just below 40k, as part exchange against one of my cars
i was told by the owner that I should expect £7,000 annual depreciation for the next two years. However I noticed that this car will have no warranty and just found that I can buy an Audi rs4 avant 2006 model or a higher mileaged 2005 M5 for the same money, just really want to know if a) can i get an extended warranty on the maser and b) mpg, c) can i leave it parked anywhere? d) is the quality really as Maserati purports it to be?
e) is the manual clutchles paddle shifted gearbox as bad as people make out?
thanks

£40K for a 2004 model isnt really that cheap. I wonder if the trade would pay more than £35K. i was told by the owner that I should expect £7,000 annual depreciation for the next two years. well its the cheapest anywhere i have seen, cant see one in top marques/sunday times for under 40,000
you wont see a trade price in Top Marques. Ring a few dealers and see what they are offering you in part ex for a Q. You will be suprised!
It also depends on spec/colour(some are in funny colour combo's). On Autotrader you see cars for 45k+ but many of those have been around a long while. Hence the bid/offer spread will be wide (10k ish). If its a 1 owner car then at least you know its not a lemon, if its had 3 or more than forget it.you wont see a trade price in Top Marques. Ring a few dealers and see what they are offering you in part ex for a Q. You will be suprised!
The tranmission is just the same as the Maser coupe or Ferrari, its just some dumb journos set it to automatic and expect it to drive like a torque convertor.
As for M5's, they are dropping fast and there are loads for sale, plus it just looks like another repmobile and an image to boot.
Your best bet is to wait for the dark months of Nov,Dec,Jan when the market is weak and get a deal then.

I absolutely and utterly love the Quattroporte, but on my last visit to Graypaul's a look at the current Maser stock-list showed far more than half an A4 sheet with used QP's for sale. Also, there has been a really nice spec'd one for sale for ages on http://www.quattroporte4sale.co.uk/ ,unless it's sold and the site is still up!
Seems to be a buyers market for them. I'm waiting until prices settle further, hopefully once the auto version of the QP and the Gran Turismo are in circulation in decent numbers.

For some reason, dealers seem reluctant to sell you a car at trade... no idea why. Makes the trade in price a bit irrelevant to those outside it when buying. you wont see a trade price in Top Marques. Ring a few dealers and see what they are offering you in part ex for a Q. You will be suprised!
I think £5k over trade is reasonable.jshell said:

That car on th site has/had been for sale for about 9 months, it intially went up at 56k for so. Last Nov when I last looked, the cheapest QP's were 49k with a bulk around 55-60k. Now things haven't moved as I expected, the baseline is 44k but very few cars between 44 and 50k (most funny colours/high miles/many owners). Despite what you saw on the list, not sure why the prices have held up so well. I think part of the reason is that the sales numbers form a inverse pyramid so there are fewer older cars for queuing buyers. If it came to the crunch, those listed prices maybe open to a lot of arm twisting.Seems to be a buyers market for them. I'm waiting until prices settle further, hopefully once the auto version of the QP and the Gran Turismo are in circulation in decent numbers.
