Just got back from France, 2-up full boot, 27 MPG not a problem at 85mph. My Monaro a gas guzzler? I dont think so. Will I get cheap Road Tax next year?
Have any of you heard a nosie that sounds like back lash from the prop shaft? I checked it myself and all seemed well. Noise seemed to come from gearbox when I turned the prop by hand.
When cleanig the car I noticed that the front drivers wing has been replaced at some point, a good repair really, thats how I missed it when I bought the car. I need to find out why this was done. The car was registered to Vauxhall, any Ideas who I should speak to when I call them? as usually you get through to some clueless reseptionist.
One other thing I have noticed is that the Monaro seems to be a noisey car compeared to my Omega, I dont mean engine noise but general back ground noise, like tyres ect.

It seems that Monaros and VXR8s are prone to abit of clankyness when coming on/off the power and also when changing gear.I think the techs call it transmission shunt.

Not sure what bit you mean by "drivers wing"? IIRC the VXR has a small boot mounted wing, and a front "spoiler"

eta Ahh  I assume you mean wing mirror?

27MPG on your journey back from France sounds good.I once got 30MPG on a trip from North Wales to Margate in my 04 Monaro.Pretty well all motorway and 80ish MPH.Best I could squeeze from my 05 was 26.Both CV8s.VXR8 is currently hovering around 21 but not a decent m/way trip yet.I rate these figures as excellent considering egine size/weight etc.

We Brits call them wings, Americans call them fenders. It's called a wing mirror because they would have been located on the wing AFAIK.

OK... I assumed they were wing mirrors because they stick out, you know, like wings scratchchin Ashley they are usually called door mirrors here (because they are usually mounted on the door)
