I've been told to put tap water in my swirl tank. After looking in my kettle and seeing the sludge I now have second thoughts. Anyone put distilled in theirs?

It should be an appropriate anti-freeze mix otherwise the protection will de diluted as the mixture is watered down by water (distilled or not).

As for using distilled... you can.

Only the best I would reccomend either Perrier or Buckland Spring only.

Don't know about water, but in Ted's classified section there is an ad for some high quality tyre air!

Recall that un-frozen ice gives top quality pure water - if you can be bothered though.

Yeah, un-frozen is definitely best. It used to be a bugger getting the frozen stuff into the radiator.

Years ago when I was young and foolish I owned a very old and very sh*t 911. Lovely thing. Red. Marvellous.

So I'm on holiday and crossing the on Kyle of Lochalsh ferry from the Isle of Skye (yes befire the Skyebridge) back to the mainland.

The window is FILTHY and the wash bottle is empty. There is NO water anywhere except a large bottle of Perrier my sister has just opened.

Thank you very much I say. Grab it. Pour enough onto the windscreen to clean it with some tissues and then pour the remaining water into the wash bottle.

One of the ferry crew incredulously stares at me. Eyebrows practically coming off the top of his head (Scots HATE waste. Not mean..just careful..).

"Never use anything else." I say getting back into the car.

I will NEVER forget the look on his face..

Tee bloody hee, gents, may be something to do with the christmas lunch an all but that did tickle.

Being true Brits don't think Perrier is appropriate, though.....

I never have the guts to do things like that - good to see that someone can though - brought a large smile and snigger... Good one.

Cheers,

Paul

No of course not I have a dedicated Britta Water Filter in the corner of the garage solely for my washer bottle and my very own highland spring at the bottom of the garden for the rad.

I wasn't joking either - it's a case of taking water out to fill the rad & washers from the kettle or the jug filter! Not that sad is it? R...
