Hi I leave my car out at night and with winter fast approaching was wondering what to cover it with. What do you guys have/recommend? I was thinking about a hood cover from TVR, has anyone used one and is it waterproof?

I use a Leven Technology hood cover which I bought from the TVRCC for £150. It's very good as it fixes around the wing mirrors and under the bonnet and boot lids. This means that it can only be taken on/off by the key holder so it's a security measure as well.
The one draw back is that it's quite bulky!
Cheers......... Andrew

Both indoor (12 colours) and outdoor covers (silver) are available.
Please specify make, model, modelyear and anything which is not an O.E. option (extra mirrors, spoilers, ...)
Delivery is 4-5 weeks after order.

I went for a Leven hood cover and am extremely satisfied - only fits Griff and Chim, and I think Tuscan (tbc). There are very easy to fit, and personally I don't find them bulky - sorry Andrew Maybe that's because I try to fold it properly-ish before dunking it in the laaaaaarge boot of the Chim. The hood cover is 100% waterproof, however the really good thing is that it is OK to find the hood on a wet car provided you don't leave it for 3 weeks !. The problem with most cover is that they have to be fitted on a dry car - means that if you come home and it's raining you'll just have to let your car under the rain. Another company is Classic Addition (www.classicadditions.co.uk), they have an 80% waterproof cover which they say can be fitted on a wet car. Didn't go for it because these full car cover are cumbersome to fit and fold.
All IMO of course.

I park my car on the street and use the folding up cover that came with the car (the roof). Is mine the only one which is waterproof? I have tried covers with bikes and frankly I can't be arsed with it. The main problem is when you take the cover off wet. Even if you stow it away carefully it will pick up bits of crap and these are transferred onto the paintwork when you put it back on again. When you take it off again it can scratch the paint. In a long crappy winter the cover gets gradually more dirty until you damage the car and in a bad temper you chuck it in the bin. Perhaps it's just me cos I can't be bothered with the hood bag either (The hoods tricky to slide into a Griff without making it bigger).

Thanks for the replies. I like the sound of the hood cover but also that 80% waterproof thing sounds good. I don't like the idea of leaving it out with no cover-the other morning it was covered in CHUNKS of ice which had got between the panels and scrunched up the hood plastic-can't be good in the long term!

I bought a car cover for my Chimaera from Classic Additions a couple of months ago. You can put it on when the car is wet, it fits the car like a glove and is surprisngly light and compactable. My car is parked outside under trees and the cover protected it admirably from the gunk and sap that the tree threw down in Autumn. I'm very pleased with it and the service from Classic Additions was excellent. Was also surprisingly cheap. Haven't tested it through the extremes of winter yet though!!!
