I'm currently considering how I'm going to spend my Christmas bonus (Yes, I'm bored today) and thought I may rent a supercar for a couple of days.

Does anyone know of a supercar rental firm in the Midlands? I'm going to be 27 which, could restrict my options a little and I dont use credit cards so that could be a problem too!

So if I can find somewhere with a nice fleet, I'll need to get a credit card sorted before December (bonus paid end of November)

Ideally I'd like a 355 or similar but being under 30, may have to consider something else.

You could try JTI Prestige and Performance Ltd, there based in Derbyshire.

Under 30 cars I can get you deals on are: Ferrari 355 spider, Ferrari 360 spider, Porshce 996 turbo, Lambo Gallardo, Jag E-Type, Aston DB9 and DB7. Let me know what kinda price you want to pay and what kind of timescale you want. Email me at ws_25@lycos.com. Have options on LP640, SLR, and possibly Phantom, but would be very expensive for under 30.

FUN VEHICLE HIRE?
The problem with these exclusive car rentals are the ridiculous hire/insurance costs and often even more ridiculous excess charges/deposits, etc.
I go to California regularly and what i like to do there, from time to time, is hire a 'Boss Hoss'! biggrin
  • *Forget everything you ever thought about any road vehicle being fast/powerful when you drove it/rode it!***
A motorcycle, with over 8.2 litres capacity, (big-block Chevvy), 502 bhp and 567 lbs-ft torque, which literally rearranges your eyes and innards whilst elongating your arms at the same time.
The early ones i tried were a 5.7 litre, single speed affair, but in 2006 i tried the newer 8.2 litre, 2-speed automatic, which unsurprisingly is quicker still.
They are geared for 150 mph in first and 300 mph in second, but to my knowledge, nobody has ever been brave enough to take one of these monsters past 170/180 mph.
But they provide a 'rush' equal to a sky-dive and as long as you understand that the handling is diabolical and that the turning circle is fractionally more than the QE2, you'll have an incredible time aboard it.

I have spoken with the UK importer for some time now and he is hoping to have one for hire by next spring, although i think it will be the new 5.7 2-speed automatic model, rather than the big-block, so you may have to get by on 370 bhp!

In Ojai, California, (just off Route 33, Ventura Highway), a guy rents out a lovely 1979 de Tomaso Pantera GT5 to friends and friends of friends.

OK, it's no F430, but he charges $100 a day which is great value i think.
I had a black Pantera GT5 myself and they are awesome cars.

Kris a 355 will set you back about £400 a day, might be able to get you a bit of discount on that mind. I will check it out for you. You can pay cash if you like or credit cards. Makes no difference.

Just to add, anyone who fancies a 350Z for the day can rent one from Polesworth Nissan at £150+VAT per day.

A friend did this recently to impress a girl - she loved it......... but was less impressed when he turned up the next time in a Ford Focus.

997 Carrera for £100 a day? Please!

I still say the Boss Hoss V8 is the one to go for. Who fancies renting it next spring then?
