Just had the 1st service on my 06 (19k miles) 320d - complained of noisy suspension - went back to collect it and they said the transport suspension blocks hadn't been removed from when it was new and were still on there....
I thought the ride was a bit harsh!

I have driven cars with the transport blocks still in, in my days working at dealerships. They used to bounce along the road at 25mph, it was positively dangerous. I cant believe you didnt think there was something seriously wrong after abou half a mile let alone 20k. Plus the car sits a good few inches higher.

Didnt people who got in the car with you say anything?

19k miles before a service?!?!

Is that the normal service interval on these diesels? If so..."I'm liking it!" I was thinking of a diesel as my next daily driver anyway as all I mostly do is plough the ...this could swing it same stretch of A-road day after day.

Yes the newer Diesels can upto 20k between services, depending on use. I think 04 onwards.

Oh yes, not unusual at all. A lot depends on how you drive I guess, lots of short journeys probably reduce this. All done by the computer apparently..

Surprisingly not too bad, if it wasn't for the clunks I wouldn't have mentioned it. I just assumed it should be hard not having had one before. The wife complained on bumpy roads though.

Have you had the suspension inspected?? There was a post on e90post.net where someone took his car in complaining of the ride and this happened, all the rubbers were shot to bits and they changed all the suspension.
