Hi folks,

Well I am now the owner of an Accord diesel, 2004 model. Bought yesterday.

I have tried the spare key and note that it doesn't operate the central locking remotely though the led on the key comes on. I am guessing it needs a battery. True? RAC says batteries need replacing twice a year.

I also note that if I open the drivers door with either key they don't open the other doors as the handbook says they should. The second key when used this way caused the lights on the door mirror to flash very quickly. I assumed that meant it was about to go into alarm mode.

The master key (the one that works almost OK) operates as it should remotely and opens all doors and boot but as I said it doesn't open the other doors when used in the lock.

Anyone else had this problem and found the solution?

The dealer is a 60 mile round trip away and doesn't do repairs - he would have to send it somewhere else - so it may be simpler and less bother to me if I can resolve it myself.

Cheers to all.

T.

JUST spoke to Honda on this and was told an extra spare key would cost £168 + VAT.

Sheesh.

Nah, you can buy them on ebay for £20 or less. £10 should get it cut at a good locksmith store, and a half hour's labour at the dealer's for programming is £35 ish.
All in - £70 tops.
