I'm running around in one today as my loan car from my local dealership..
Really been impressed with it so far.. Great to drive and bags of power..
It's a 123D with the M Sport pack and I think it's brilliant.. Though average MPG doesn't seem as good as i'd expect for a diesel.. around 37 - 39 so far..

I would guess it's probably the pick of the bunch. The 135i would probably be more powerful, but the 6-pot engine seems to be significantly heavier than the 4-pot. Certainly my 130i doesn't feel as nimble as other 1ers I've driven. It doesn't feel bad or unbalanced, it just feels a lot more "grown-up" than I think it should. I think the 123d would probably give the best power / weight / balance combination.

I shouldn't worry about MPG, if you have one today it will be one of the first in the country and therefore will of been 'put through its paces' by now... they improve massively as the miles go on.Really been impressed with it so far.. Great to drive and bags of power..

I suppose at the moment it would clash with the 325d. I hope they drop that model in favour of a 323d. The current 320d is just a little too boring, the 325d is pointless, the 330d is excellent but too expensive and the 335d is for people who think it's a sportscar! A lightweight 4 pot diesel with over 200 hp would be the ideal for long distance, high speed commuting. Surely it will happen soon?
