I am planning on bidding for a plate at that auction (not any of those)
Went to one last year and quite good fun (though this time I am bidding over the phone)
Most plates go for at least 3x their reserve.

I Remember AR53 NAL going for over £30k to a mystery phone bidder, was quite fun seeing the bids go up and up, as it started at about £4k if I remember.

How long does it take for these guys to include a requested plate?

I've got one I asked for 18 months ago and still no sign of it at auction

I guess it varies - I requested to know when my particular plate came up for auction only about 2 months ago, and got an email from them last week saying it was coming up at the next auction.

Doug, I requested three plates in April this year, two of which were in the last sale (one of which I bought). I dont know if that was simply coincidence and the timing is typical.

How do you check if a registration is in issue or if it can be requested?

I thought there was a link on the DVLA site, but I can't find it

With me, I was looking for a particular plate, checked on DVLA site, got a message saying the plate I was after has gone to auction and a link to register your interest and be informed when the auction it was in is coming up.

I may be wrong, but I thought they waited until they had 3 requests for the same plate before releasing to auction.

I requested a plate in late 2004 (was a '55' plate) and it came up in late 2006. Bought it (but paid through the nose paperbag)but dont know if it came up at auction because of my request or just lucky?

are there any auctions where you can SELL number plates? i have a couple of good ones (V12 MAR and AH55TON) wondered if any of the auction houses ever did specialist sales

your country has gone bananas !

£55 over here for any plate that's available.
i) go down to motor tax office.
ii) pick up exercise book with available plates, handwritten in biro.
iii) choose your number.
iv) ask for tipex to erase number in exercise book (i kid you not !)
v) pay your £55

job done

then you may go out and drive like f*** in a land where there are no speed cameras, no speed limits and no f*****g caravans !

So am i, it has nothing to do with my cars or initials though. Have a feeling its going to be going for a lot more than 3x its reservesmile.
