I'm sure it's not just me, and I'm sure you don't really care what I have to say on the subject, but I feel like having a grumble hehe

I'm getting bored of clicking on threads only to find out it's a news story about BMW drivers owning chocolate coloured labradors, and Ford drivers preferring terriers or some such old boocks.

Today there's some old cobblers about women changing wheels. It's getting like the motoring pages of knitting weekly round here. Or knitting pathetically...

I know Garlick said you were on the case in a recent thread, but I for one would rather see less news if nothing had really happened that day. That way, General Gassing can be full of us mad farts talking about beer and engines, which is exactly what it should be. Leave the gossip column style reporting out.

Thanks for listening smile

I did listen to you, and I do know what you mean. Was having a think about the tyre story today when it was submitted but decided to run with it. I did decide not to run two other though as the never ending amount of surveys that are coming in these days are starting to annoy.

I am searching for the car news and as I said, the car stuff starts in earnest in October, we are just trying to seek out what the smaller manufacturers are up to, seeing what oddball cars are for sale and hoping that someone launces a V12 MPV rather than concentrating on hybrids!

Good points though so cheers for posting.

I don't mind hearing about new developments in fuel technology. I think it's fascinating stuff. After all, it's what we're all going to be hooning with in the future!

Do you have to run a certain number of news stories per day or something?

Why not let PH'ers write in with progress reports of projects, or tales of trips to the ring, or days out with other PH'ers?

Just suggestions like... smile

Not set number of stories really. Depends what's available.

I'd like to do 5 a day as that has been a PH rule for a long time, but it's not essential.

We do think alike as reader based news and reviews is VERY high on my wish list and I have a couple of pieces being written by PHers as we speak.

What sort of stuff are you after? If it's possible to release a piece or writing/news without it being subject to 'date controls' ie the piece wouldn't necessarily be out of date in a month. Surely you could build up a portfolio of stories from PHers, then pick which ones you want to use. Say 2 weeks down the line, you're really lacking, then perhaps one didn't quite make the cut the first time as it was up against some quality stories, you could bring it in again, without it looking silly.

I'd be interested to read about "MrX's trip to the 'ring" or "Our first trackday" as long as the writing is good, and perhaps edited well?

I'm working on something as we speak, which could be (excuse my hornblowing) brilliant for PH wink

E mail me the details mate- same goes for anyone else who feels thay have an interesting story to tell.

Don't worry about quality of writing, most can be sub edited!

A return of PetrolTed's rants would be jolly good form as well yes

Also, why not write some copy about the flipside and PH'ers perspective of all these hybrids and stuff? Why not make a story out of the fact they should be designing V12 MPV's? nuts

And what about the budding PH journo's? I know he's sometimes a bit of an oily tick wink, but I'm sure twinners would love a crack at getting his name on some news stories... you can always edit stuff and have the final say... maybe you'd get some good content?
