BMW testing new TC ban with interesting results...
Discussion
Read recently that BMW have been undertaking some track tests with the car in TC Ban mode which comes into play next year and Heidfeld's comments are very interesting...
basically he feels that with TC banned, the cars are much harder than many people thought, including himself, would be to control. Although the first few laps on fresh rubber is easy to predict the cars, once the rubber has worn down the car becomes very nervous. Nick feels that next year will be an interesting season, and he predicts more mistakes from drivers, more overtaking (can't be a bad thing), and the skill of the driver coming back to the fore.
With those thoughts, I do hope that Honda can put Button into a good solid car next year, becuase it would appear that most of the media feel that his smooth driving style would suit the new regs better.
How about McLaren giving him a seat beside Lewis, because Alonso will be back at Renault which is already a done deal behind closed doors.
If we were to get a double brit team line up, who do you think would come out on top in an era post TC?

Did you have to steer it back to 'Who will be Hamiltons team mate next year?' As if we hav'nt got enough LH v FA threads!
Surely Bridgestone will provide different tyres to go with the higher wear rate without TC. That will go some way to lessen the problems Heidfield described I would have thought.
I think your right about this playing into Buttons hands. It will certainly show up the drivers who lack finesse applying the power.

Is this ban on traction control going to be as effective as the one on launch control?
The amount of exciting starts we've seen since they brought that in has been staggering
F1 is the sport of bending the rules until we're back to the current status quo. Look at the 'drivers' title standings. It should be called the 'teammate' standings.
All you can do is beat your teammate.

Back to manual gearboxes.....that will sort them out!
What does that mean? Would all the drivers with only automatic DVLA licences not be allowed to race?RVVUNM said:

and 5 litre turbo engines, there is a huge need to get power back up (preferably to 1500 bhp levels) then sort out the aerodynamics to allow cars to run close to each other and punch big holes in the air for each other to slip stream and before anyone says 1500 bhp would be too dangerous, i will show you a big long list of people who would love the chance to drive them!!!pablo said:

As opposed to the tiny list of people who want to drive modern F1 cars?Sorry, just feeling the devil's advocate today
