"Classic Corvettes" or "Modern Corvettes"?

IMO i Dont think there would be enough call for it,i remember an MR2 owner remarking on the new and old style MR2 owners once,he said on one hand you had the oil under the fingernails section and on the other side was the 'Cream tea Brigade'....
no offence meant to this forum it just reminded me of it
Maybe have some inter marque competition at some time.

Oh dear, guess I'll have to have my cream tea and eat it with dirty fingernails.

With three whole posts today, I can really see that being worth Ted's while...
I think that was Pete's point.
This used to be a really busy forum. 10 new threads a day would have been a dead week!!!
99% of the original posters don't come on here anymore and the rest of us hardly at all.
For an idea of what I mean take a look at both mine and Cliff's post count compared to yours

Although going back to Pete's question, I'm not sure it's just the vette generation thing thats driven people away. I put a lot of it down to dealer posting on here. I know its quieter now than it was but for a while it was Parklane this and Parklane that. It made me wonder how they all think we managed before they were on the scene. I know by comments at various meets that this really started to pi55 people off. It also amazes me how they have such knowledge of all things Corvette. When they were first on the scene and I talked with them they didn't know enough about vettes to write on a back of a stamp.
It's not just this thread thats dying, the major threads on PH are also not what they were and there have been numerous posts of 'Is PH what it was' etc. Maybe is become a victim of it's own success.
just my 2cents worth

It's not what it was, in fact the tumbleweed blows through here too frequently now. I think there are some that have returned to CCCUK's forum (that's far more active than here at the moment).
What happened, well as per Gixer's post a few big posters aren't on here that often any more (VHR, Gixer himself, Cliff etc. etc.) - not naming names in any negative sense, they'd already done a lot for this forum, and I think a little too much 'trade' on here.
Also, look at the interesting posts on here, like Panic's car, swamped by the usual SVA questions or how big is a US gallon - no disrespect, these are genuine questions perhaps better put into a sticky or faq section (photo and video has this).
And we'll only ever get out what we put in, so, if you've done something interesting, post some pics up and tell us all about it.
By the way - congrats to Nutz on her editorship - the King is Dead long live the Queen! (Pete - thanks for all your time on the mag - an excellent and enjoyable spell at the helm!)
PS - should be one forum, and perhaps we should all act as one group of Corvette owners too. Bored of the us and them now.

This is of course a good thing, and appropriate.
However, PH has provided a healthy diversion for some of us, and I look at the Pie & Piston regularly just for some non-Corvette banter. But for Vette stuff I'll be using the club site... I'm amazed this topic has been brought up again, but it must be a genuine issue for some of the more narrow-minded posters on here.
I'm personally mystified and gobsmacked.
In a world as small as UK Corvette ownership, why on earth would regular posts by owners of the current versions put off posting by owners of earlier ones?
As a Corvette owner (and I used to own a 1990 C4 way before my C6 Z06), I am delighted that there is finally a proper, factory-backed UK Corvette presence and whilst it may not directly serve the exact models some of you own, it is still surely a good thing for the growth of Corvette ownership in the UK.
I am a sufficiently experienced user of internet forums that I know I can choose which threads to read and which not to. Provided threads are not actually off topic, I don't see the problem...

Well I was a member of the CCCUK well before many of the members on here and I can't believe what I'm reading!
Please explain how posts and threads about Corvettes of any era can put others off using this forum?
I didn't start this "us and them" issue and wasn't aware there was one until it was explicitly stated, several times.
In my own little way, I have personally done quite a lot to raise the general UK public's awareness of Corvettes, having loaned my Z06 to evo magazine no less than 3 times in the last year as well as writing my own stuff on auto-journals.
I have been personally told by a few new C6 Z06 owners that they were influenced by my articles to make the jump.
As for ParkLane posting on here, I think it is admirable that a car salesman bothers to attend and support events the way James has. Just ask Dieter whether he thinks it was worthwhile me calling James on his personal mobile on the Sunday we were at Trax...
Way to encourage new owners to sign up to the CCCUK and make them feel welcome here...

Oh dear,
Play nicely children,or there will be tears before bedtime.
We all get the arse sometimes but this isn't worth it.
Trouble in Paradise.
Maybe we should all go to Trabantchat.co.uk for a little reality check as sometimes its a case of not seeing the Vettes for the two stroke smoke.
Get out and cane the arse off the Vette and realise why you bought it in the first place.
Lighten up

Well I think this an excellent demonstration of passion for Corvettes, just as it should be. I have an interest in all years young or old and have no problem with a mixed forum or segregation since I will read them all anyway. For those who are passionate about particular era's of 'Vette terrific because it is passion which is the mainstay of any marque support. Lets just be positive about it and lets not get personal, we're all in this for the same end which is enjoyment of our Corvettes.
Bye, bye
Phil
