Is anyone else getting sick of Hamilton's whining?
Irrespective of whether what Alonso did re Stepneygate was right or wrong, Alonso (and Ron) is handling himself with great dignity in his comments to the press.
Hamilton just makes me want to cringe with his countless digs at Alonso and his "aren't I great" comments. It's as if he has some massive inferiority complex or something. These seem distinctly at odds with the equality between the drivers that McLaren promote.
One only has to look at any of the comments he has said on Pitpass or Planet F1 - some reent examples:
"I'd much rather it were Fernando in a Ferrari and me in a McLaren," the 22-year-old Brit said.
"And since what's gone on in the last few weeks they've realised who the real people are in the team and who they really should back."
Hamilton's petulence in the post race press conference when it was suggested that he was taking the blame for the incident with Kubica was also embarrassing to watch.
I am a long time Ferrari fan, but part of me is now wishing that Alonso will take the title and put this whippersnapper in his place!
Back in the day, my friends used to criticise my fondness of Eddie Irvine, who they thought was arrogant. Eddie was humourous, and most of his comments were said tongue in cheek, and yet lots of people disliked him because of his attitude.
I wonder what those same people's view of Hamilton will be in a few years time?
PS - Has anyone else tried the "Lewis Hamilton Drinking Game"? You must take a swig of your drink each time "Lewis Hamilton" is mentioned on the ITV F1 coverage. Trust me - you will only play it once ; )

No but I'm getting sick of all the comments attributed to him as whining.It wasn't long ago that we all wanted another James Hunt, another Eddie Irvine. Someone who said what they wanted to without too much toeing of the corporate line. I think Hamilton is managing to cover both, being the perfect corporate speaker while still showing some backbone on other matters......and winning on track.

The guy tried to blackmail his own team. That is not dignified behaviour by any stretch of the imagination.Alonso is not being dignified - he's simply been advised to keep his bloody mouth shut.
There must be any one of 30 or so threads you could add your post to - it really didn't need yet another Hamilton thread, did it?

From what I seen/read I've lost loads of respect for Alonso based on his comments/whining/actions.I think it is difficult to take what little he (or Ron, or Alonso) says and, once sound-bitten (distorted) by the press - read too much into it. Do we really konw anyone based on a few sound-bites?
I'd like to see an in-depth TV interview with the guy - then we can have a stab at reading what he's really about.
Clearly he's dreamed of being in the position he now is for many years - but that doesn't mean he's prepared for it (would you be) - maybe he regrets some of the things he's been quoted as saying?

If, at his tender age, I'd been fortunate enough to achieve in 12 months what Mansell took 12 years to then I'd be crowing like fook. Especially when winning races in a "cheating" car ; )

Whether you like his personal traits or not you are witnessing a remarkable talent and he happens to be British so how about less of the negetive vibes man

All race drivers are big-headed/arrogant. They have to be if they want to be ruthless enough at the cutting edge. For me, personally, I prefer the Hamilton brand of ruthless, that includes a few cutting remarks about his teammate, than the Alonso method of slating everyone and threatening to go running to the FIA if he doesn't get his way.

It will be great to have a Brit win the championship.
Someone said Mansell took 12 years to win the title. That is probably because he had to work hard and sell his house to help fund his racing driver - not be groomed by McLaren since he was 13 and then be gifted with the best car on the grid in his debut season.

He was winning before McLaren saw him, they could see the potential and they wouldn't have invested so much in someone who wouldn't be able to do it. Many more young drivers in Europe are sponsored from early age like Lewis.Considering the number of drivers who never make it because of the lack of sponsorship in this country it's great to see one success. If he didn't have the talent he'd not be winning races.

now for anyone to win a single race regardless of the car in the first season is a massive achievment, but to be 12 points clear with 2 races to go, and having just won your *first* wet race, i'd consider that amazing.
im totally confused as to why so many people are looking for reasons to knock, what is one of our countries most gifted and talented sports stars.
pathetic comes to mind.
