is it worth buying a bike at this time of year?
Discussion
im not going to be doing much riding, but im getting my insurance payout after 7 bloody months of dithering!!, is it worth buying a bike at this time of year, do dealers offer any worthwhile discounts to keep themselves afloat during the winter months?.
i want the new shape CBR 600 RR, ive decided this is the best route to go on, seeing as the changes for next year are only paintwork and its the exact same bike am i better off to just buy a slightly used/ pre reged one and make a decent saving, im not really fussed about having the latest reg etc, the difference between having a numberplate that is 57 reg or one that is 08 reg doesnt really bother me, my only worry is the bike wont get much use at this time of year.

i hope so, i'm trying to sell mine at the moment so i need somebody who thinks it is worth buying.
This is the apparently the perfect time of year to buy a bike as the prices are at their lowest due to it being the end of summer (as i am finding out
)
ETA its a 56 plate CBR600F if anybody's interested

perfect time for buying, bad time for selling. go to a dealer and screw the hell out of them whilst they are trying to shift units for sales figures and to make way for 08 stock....................
saying that though if anybody is interested, my father (who runs ermaxuk.co.uk) is selling his yr 2000 929cc blade, has over 4k of extras and even he has had to knock it down to 3800.....

well the cheque for my insurance payout is in the post, so finally after a 7 month wait im in a position to buy a bike.
i have thought about other models but im pretty much set on the 2007 shape 600RR, the cheapest new on the road 57 reg one i could find was £6650 for a UK bike, worth going for?.

Avonvale Honda in Solihull (Listers Group) are having a sale at the moment and the bikes are very near cost at the moment - might be worth a call?
thanks for the info, i shall give them a call tomorrow, the only thing i have to do now is pick the colour, not keen on the blue and white one, but the others i like.castrolcraig said:

The difficulty with those particular bikes is that when they were new motorcycle city bought up all the 2000 stock in 2001 and knocked them out for 6500 so they never seem to have recovered in value since then. I have one and wouldn't have thought it's worth much more the 2500 but it's standard.
Yes, I think it is, I am looking at getting a black Suzuki GSX-R 750 K7, phoned George White, a motorcycle dealership, the price, which includes free delivery to my house £7100. I love it, was about to buy tickets for the NEC to have a look at the new models, but just about getting a grand on the list price and a full UK spec bike, it has to be done.
