I am thinking of changing my plugs and ignition leads and was wondering about adding the metal plug suppressors.

Are these necessary? Do they protect the plug from manifold heat or what?

So they are strictly for prolonging the life of the plugs, by protecting them from the manifold heat? Did they fit these to Griff's as standard then as mine did not have any fitted when I picked the car up (4L Pre-cat).

Resistance or non resistance any difference in terms of effecting the plug perfomance??

Ideally you want either the leads, extenders or plugs to be resistive.
