I'm just about to post up this months competition thread.. but I thought I'd just run two thoughts by you first of all.

1) what is the general feeling on use of photoshop? I'm all for it if it enhances a picture and the results are professional.. but what about the rest of you? I wouldn't suggest that it's required to provide a winning photo, each would be judged on their own merits.

2) I didn't consider it at the time I posted my photo last month, but I won't be around at the end of October. I'm getting married on the 28th and will be off on Honeymoon the day after. So I could either put an earlier end date on the competition - 25th/26th Oct maybe. OR I can ask a mate to judge the comp for me. Anyone got a preference?

Rob.

1) Simple 'shopping - cropping, saturation, etc. - agreed, can make the pic what you intended it to be. Wholesale 'shopping - I'm personally against it, as it can then become a techy competition rather than a photo competition. But see also (2) below...

2) You're the winner, your rules, your call!

I'm certainly not against 'shopping if it helps achieve something special, however I would prefer to see the final image still being very much recognisable as a photograph.

Regards photoshop, as long as it still looks like a photo it should be fine, which is what a lot of people probably do anyway.

Regarding judging, I don't see a problem with making it a week earlier, have a great honeymoon smile

There's a difference between 'finishing' & 'creating' an image. PS can do both, but IMHO you step out away from real photography when you venture into the second part of that....

^^^ What he said.

As for the judging, it's your prerogative.

Best of luck with the wedding, honeymoon and married life.
