Wortec: Fuel Efficiencies & Remap Optimisation
Discussion
Morning all. Having just adorned my recently acquired VXR with the Wortec Cat Back system and Re-map (Thanks Monkfish) I have two questions which I'm hoping you can help me with..
1. Has anyone measured the relative fuel consuption on the loud (straight thru) vs quiet (baffled) set-up ideally on a motorway run?
2. Is the re-map optimised for the loud or quiet set-up?..it certainly sounds faster on the loud set-up!!

The loud or quiet setting is the same from a power point of view. The system you have is a 2 1/2inch system and on both the loud and quite settings, the system does not change internal diameter. This means from the engine point of view there is no change on between the two settings. The remap is optimised for the system you have. I hope this answers your question.

One more random (and dumb question)
How does the quiet setting actually achieve the quietness without being more restrictive?
Just curious

The exhaust system (05 Monaro) is switch able between two different paths, loud and quiet. The amount of silencing is directly related to the volume of the silencer so the bigger the silencer the more silencing this applies when size of inlet and outlet remain the same. Hope this helps.
Still confused, and maybe others are too?
I ws given a pair of what i can only descibe as blanking plates with a hole in them to change my exhaust note from Loud to Quiet.
Without getting under my consideraby low motor, can anyone tell me what these plates actually do? - Do they divet gases or just help suppress sound by way of air flow???
Laymans terms please WORTEC !!!!!!!!!!!

The exhaust has 2 paths through the rear silencer.....with the solid plate in the gases use path A. (quiet) or with the plate with the hole in it the gases uses path B. (Loud) and If you have the electronics fitted it uses both paths at the touch of a button......
Or for the less tech minded people "it's magic"..........

Thanks Mr Daniels........
Didn't really look at my plates after specifying the loud option., so assuming the ones i have are solid plates.
Reccomendation to all that don't have neighbours who live in the same tunnel/multistorey carpark/communal garage etc go for the LOUD version,. it is not loud unless you decide to press the "LOUD" pedal....... Really. You can drive a Wortec Exhaust Car with your granny in the back and hold a decent conversation, but then........if you need to....... press the pedal and hear her "sing" as one of my passengers recntly said...

it might be quiet inside but get a trusted person to drive past you at the side of the road and you will find out how loud outside it is!!!
Yeah
just got to find that "trusted person..........."
Does that mean then, when i pass a NOVA/SAXO/SCOOBY/etc at full bore, are they listening to me or drowned out by their own inadequate exhaust systems!?!?
ASIDE
I had an an Astra Coupe 2.0 Turbo and tried to get it to sound meatier with a big back box.
My first passenger said "is your exhaust blowing.......?
What trhe difference between exhaust "tune" and "noise" ??
