No excuse for rubbish customer service, but look on the bright side:

1) You have a very popular car on order, hence the delay. This will help resale in years to come.

2) They are not rushing your build... better to have a well built car when it comes, than a shoddily built car today.

This sort of thing really pi$$es me off.

Has the car gone status X. ie spec finalised to allow Porsche to order the components in for X build week. Have they given you a build date? Your OPC should have this information on their computer. If not speak to Reading and ask why your order is being delayed.

I know with my car they built it in march 02 instead of April 02 because they moved april manual production forward to take up the slack caused by having a delay getting tiptronic gearboxes for march production.

Daz is totally right.
They have a hell of a lot of info they could provide you with if asked ( or hassled).
I would bet you folding money that if yourself and another person ordered the same car at the same time and only one of you kept the pressure on and called a lot too 'check the progress' of your order, they would get their's first.

You do deserve better for your 40 grand, give 'em hell.

Start off being nice to the dealers and then go to Porsche Uk direct,,they can find anything out.
Goes without saying that AFN are basically Porsche UK,so if you have ordered a car from a smaller dealer you may be down on any pecking order by default, unless you make some noise.

I'd expect to receive your car at the beginning of august then.

Has the OPC giving you a build date yet? They should be able to say what date the car will roll off the production line. Delivery is then between 14 and 28 days later.

Excellent news. Have you seen it yet, detour on way home from work? or just walk out having taken the call. I know what I did when I got THAT call.

Good to see they solved their transport problem. Perhaps the DoT should bring Porsche in as consultants on transport issues. I suppose your OPC now has to get the paperwork from Reading in order to register the car, when are you collecting, 6/7 days?

...make sure it's the exact spec you ordered - wouldn't surprise me if they give you someone else's car if their spec more or less matched yours (especially if YOU were getting impatient and the other owner wasn't).

However, if they DO accidentally give you someone else's car and it happens to be a GT3, then you'd best not kick up a fuss - just drive away quickly (and don't look back!).

I like cover systems covers - about 100GBP. Not as fancy as some but do the job - I've had 3 of them!
