P plate A4 Estate, Intermittent alarm

Have a mysterious intermittent alarm problem. All is well for few weeks then the car will suffer a spate of sounding the alarm for no apparent reason. Usually simply unlocking and locking again seems to reset things for an hour or so when it will go off again.

Any common problems to look for ?
