I know that this has probably been done to death in the past but I can't be bothered to go back through thousands of old threads looking for it !

I currently have Goodyear Eagles on all round. The front ones have only done about 12k mile but I have developed a wandering handling problem which I have been professionally informed is to do with the tyres wearing past half way (following a complete set-up check at Guglielmis.)

They were brilliant before but I am reluctant to pay for something I can only use half of, so thought I would consult the great and the good for ideas.

I have found that all wide tyres seem to "tramline", some worse than others. When the Bridgestone SO2's were finished on my Cerbera, I opted for the Toyo Proxies, (as the SO2 pole positions were no longer available), and found them to be very good, and have now put them onto the Tuscan, replacing Avon's which I disliked...I think its each to their own at the end of the day, but Toyos is my recommendation.

I have gone through a couple of sets of F1s on mine and haven't noticed a wandering problem due to wear. More the other way round that a wandering problem is evidence of too much toe out, which then wipes off the inside edges of the fronts pretty quickly.

Had Toyo TR-1 Proxes on & blew one on the A3 on a Sunday. The RAC helped me locate (& transported the car to) the nearest tyre shop which only had Bridgestone Potenza RE040s in the correct size so, cutting a long story short, I now have these Bridgestone's on all four corners. I have been impressed by these tyres for the following reasons:

Loads of grip in the dry once they're warm.
Very progressive grip.
They have excellent feedback & turn-in qualities due to stiff sidewalls.
They tend not to tramline like the Toyo's did.
Quite a hard compound so should, I hope, wear well.
Rim protection.

Haven't tried them in the wet, yet. Might be a bit less grip as they don't warm up quickly...

I have just changed my 16" to 18" SP12's, had geometry done at the same time.
The tyres changed from Toyo's to F1's.
The difference is fantastic in grip and no more tram lining.
Because I had a number of changes done at the same time, I cant say what has contributed the most to the mprovements but I can say I am very happy with the F1's

BE VERY CAREFUL.

The RE040 are really poor in the wet, especially the cold.
