The Art of Classic Cars
Discussion
Hi all,
Just thought I'd share a great Esprit weekend with you all. Last weekend, our local Lotus club the LOONs (Lotus Owners Oftha North) participated in the 9th Annual Stone Arch Bridge Festival of the Arts.
This is a two day festival, held in a renovated wharehouse district along the Mississippi River which showcases local artists and artisans. The 'Art of Classic Cars' Show' is held in association with this festival. Everything from antiques, to Custom Rods, to Muscle Cars and Foreign Sports Cars were showcased.
The weather was fantastic and we had 7 cars showing in 4 different categories including 5 Esprits (a recently restored '77 S1, my '85 Turbo, an '89 SE and 2 '90 SEs, one of which was our own Calvin Hamada), a '67 Elan+2 and a '68 Elan.
It was great having all those Esprits lined up on that scenic cobblestone street and they really captured more than their share of the crowd's attention. It was really interesting to listen to people's reactions and to hear their knowledge of the cars. Our club even recruited 2 new members at the event.
This was a judged show and our club's cars, spanning 4 classes, won 5 awards including a clean sweep of the Modern Limited Production class on Saturday and repeated taking 1st place in that category the following day. I have some nice pics, but can't figure out how to post them here, sorry.
If such an event is held near you, consider entering your car and spreading some enjoyment to others. It is very rewarding speaking with the many car people and admirers who stop to look over your car. Happy Motoring! Jim'85TE

That's great Jim, I like the interclub events, seeing what other people are up to with their classics.
As you know we are just as keen on nice looking rods as well, so must have been great!
We had a multi club run last weekend and was fab! I just love ripping past those slower cars and chatting to them afterwards. A definate feel good thingy
