I am just about to get a load of stuff printed so before going ahead I thought I would put the job out to any PHers who may run a Litho print company or know a good cheap one.

We are looking to get about 10,000 prints done initally of a colour A4 sheet, and about 100 of another which need to be at least A3 or A2 depending on cost.

Both of these are planned to be ongoing deals with the same sheets on a repeat order of similar quantities.

Let me know if you can do it, or know a good company who has offered you good service in the past!

Okey dokey guys, thanks for the PMs, those who have PMed me!

To save repeating myself, Ill post the exact details here:

10,000 A4 copies, minimum 100gsm (preferably 120 or 135 dependant on cost) single sided, matt, CMYK colour and is ready to print from a high quality jpg.

The A3/A2 job is the same specs, but we are only looking for about 100 copies to start with. The reason why I say A3 or A2 is to get an idea of the price difference at this stage - although for this job 100gsm is plenty thick enough.

Cheers guys!

Edited to add:

A company we have had stuff from before on a mailing project has a deal on on 300gsm gloss printing for the 10k job. If it is not too much more expensive then this may be preferable if you guys could quote for both.

I would rather give the business to a PHer than anyone else as we would be looking to reorder the same amount of prints of the same source evey few months.

100gsm matt art is pretty flimsy, and if you're putting a lot of ink down won't imho produce a nice job. What are you doing with these items after printing? Also, unusual to supply a jpg for us to print from?

A3 I would possibly do digitally, depending on the image, A2 I'd have to do litho and won't be very cost effective from us.

Think I'll duck out of this one and leave it to someone else whose presses/set-up might be better suited.

Thanks anyway.

Cheers for the input, I am really at the start of getting quotes and the job done and as my post before, perhaps the 300gsm may be preferable?

A3 digital would also be a 'goer' dependant on price.

I should be able to convert the files into pdf's or the CMYK formatting (sorry I am not a printer, so not up completely on the lingo but have done this before)!

Whichever printer you decide on, make sure you agree exactly what format they want because a lot can go wrong. I originated my own artwork in RGB and when I tried converting it to CMYK the colours went totally beserk... you have to think 'plates'.

What are these printed items for? Are they flyers, to be used in a mailing? Are the A3 ones posters? Helps if we know what you're thinking then we can advise. Not seeing an image or having any idea what you're trying to achieve is a bit limiting tbh.

Pdfs would be good thumbup

Depending on the coverage an A3 sheet will cost you about 25-30pence each plus some set up/mac costs - all in about £100 if we don't need to do too much to the files.

The 10,000 copies are coloured certificates with a space for the project manager to write in a box a child's name. You are right about the A3 sheets, they are posters!

I dont't think much should need to be done to the digital stuff to make it printable. Our local print company do about 5 small jobs a week for us on A3 and they seem to be able to print straight away. They are not so competitive on the bigger orders and would just outsource the litho work anyway so I am looking for a better deal elsewhere!
