Just a heads up, this months CAR has dropped through the door and there is a Drivers car of the year with Matt Neal driving various things including the above.

I shan't steal the enjoyment and tell you which wins or which is the fastest round Cadwell though unless you want to know..whistle

Well for the record it's a multi car test, split into groups and in this group there was the 911 GT3, Gallardo SL, R8 and Caterham R400.

The winner of the whole shooting match was the R8!!!

It must be one hell of a thing, Cadwell is a tight and twisty circuit, and I speak as someone who has just bought another Gallardo!!

Bertie, how much was between the Gallardo and R8 in seconds? Fractions I'd assume...

I always remember reading in some mag recently Ferrari's Engineers couldn't get their 599 around Millbrook as fast as the Gallardo's times (set the day before) and they were gutted.
The LP640 is not as quick as Andy's Gallardo through twisties too. So the R8 must be one hell of a machine.
Hats off to them

Ooops, Slight revision now I've had chance to look at the article again.

The R8 isn't the fastest but it does win the test.

Table reads..

GT3 RS 53.81 seconds
R400 54.28
Gallardo SL 54.45
R8 55.56

But they still give top honours to the R8.

Must pay more attention over the cornflakes next time!

That's better.

I was starting to worry on the way home, the GT3 has 20 odd more BHP than the R8 and will be be wearing Cups over the Gallardo / R8s road tyres. If the GT3 hadn't been the quickest (R400 excluded) Porsche would have issues!

Of course they last, they've hardly got any torque to transmit!

took mine round brunters for a test for Redline magazine and it was 3/100ths quicker than a lotus exige race car on the shorter twisty circuit. which suprised me

That's a fantastic photo Jon!

Can I ask, what tyres do the R8s come with stock? Is it one of the Pirellis?

I've seen several R8s on the M40 this week. As with many cars now, they look much better in the flesh than in pictures. It really is nice-looking, and reminds me of NSX from some angles. BTW, that pic of yours is excellent!
