Seems to be hectic activity in the apex of my roof, with swift comings and goings by wasps. Same place as last year but then I managed to destroy the bu**ers with some foam wasp killer. This year the same stuff I have applied 3 evenings running, with absolutely no affect whatsover it appears. When applying the stuff tonight I must have touched an wasp nerve for an loud angry buzzing (a bit like an swarm of Lotus disapearing into the distancesmile) noise suddenly started. I made an quick getaway sliding down my ladder and in doors quick.

Time to call in the pro's tomorrow me thinks, I'm allergic to wasp stings and the like so lets see how others tackle the job. It won't be easy I don't think. I live under an thatch roof and thats where the nest is, right in the base and with no loft for easy access. So time to bring in pest control from the Council and hope I get my tax worth.

It may not be free - check first. You didn't expect to actually GET anything for your Council Tax did you?

Afraid it isnt free...£35 for the local Council guy. I used a company called Abate. They charged £45 but if the nest is rebuilt and the wasps return or they dont all die off then Abate return free of charge and dose them again.

When you have the power to say 'Give me money or go to prison' you can extort quite a lot. Legalised extortion, just like most tax.

Totally agree. Not only do we pay £1300 council tax for "services" they've reduced rubbish collection to bi-weekly, chipped my bin to tax me even more in future, don't repair the street lights, don't do anything about the toe rags hanging aroung the town centre and local shop (even though my Norfolk COnstab contribution has increased 20% per annum) and refuse to take my recycling because I "recycle too much and it's in a plastic bag next to the already full bin!

Don't get me started!......oh you have smile
