Im glad to see nobody is getting ripped off in Britan! Yes I know the VXR8 is an HSV but still.

DETROIT – General Motors will price the new Pontiac G8 sedan starting at $27,595 when it arrives in dealerships early next year. Prices for the V-8-powered G8 GT will start at $29,995, GM says.

The G8 will have a base 256-hp, 3.6-liter variable valve-timed V-6 engine and five-speed automatic transmission. It will have driver shift control and sport mode availability. Standard features will include StabiliTrak electronic stability control, six airbags and OnStar.

The G8 GT will have a 6.0-liter V-8 mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Other standard equipment will include limited slip differential and a premium 230-watt Blaupunkt 11-speaker sound system, according to a memo Pontiac sent to dealers this morning.

In the memo, Jim Bunnell, Buick-Pontiac-GMC general manager, calls the GT version “the most powerful vehicle available for under $30,000.”

But as always we get shafted bringing it in frown

How does it work again? 30% tax, then you pay the tax on top of the tax again at 17.5% ?

Then there's the shipping.

I wouldn't mind that, particularly, not that it matters, but my HSV wasn't exactly luxurious either. I think it suits the car well.

All in good time my man.

I have a mate in NZ with a VE SS who will upgrade to the wagon, the SS is mine if I want it. Though he has abused it and its going to be pretty worthless as it has lots of engine error codes to try and sort out. I shouldn't imagine it would be worth very much. I guess that will mean I wont need to pay as much tax on it though wink

nope, (its US cost + £800 shipping) + 10% duty + 17.5% vat

add an SVA at say £1k and you get change from £22k for the 6L v8 pontiac G8

but its a entirely different car of course, nothing like a VXR8 as below...

I'm going to reply every time you do this one wink

In Australia (where these are made, remember?) the Holden SSV (sounds like the same car?) is $54,490 (about £23500)
Who's getting ripped off?? Especially given our lower wages...

Still us, then you guys smile
Anyway its all relative. Its still good value for what it is. But when looking soley at prices converted at current exchange rates there is a massive discrepancy. Thats my main point.

There is always the SS, for $44k

US prices are often quoted exclusive of sales tax, though.
