If you have read my previous thread you may know I have been locked out of my Cerb for about a week now.

I am now in the boot (not literally) and my boot door release has been damaged so I cant open the door that way.

I have been told the only way to get in now is to put a 12V battery charger onto the cable into my fusebox which should power up the circuit to the door which in theory will allow me to use the door switch?

Can anyone confirm this is safe/possible to do and any advice on carrying this out.

If this doesnt work Im going to have to drop the mainfold to get a charge to the starter motor

I've never done that, however.

A battery charger is going to be throwing out 13.2 to 14.4 volts.

I'd be more inclined to use a charged car battery instead (12 volts)

No reason why you shouldn't be able to connect the pos of the battery to the incoming side of the fuse.

And connect the neg of your battery to the bottom of the engine block via a jump lead (singular)

Good luck smile

Another way perhaps? Remove the bonnet, never tried it but worth having a go.
In the front grille (The top 'mouth' of the car) there are 4 little nuts right at the top corners, they take 10mm spanner. If you undo these you may be able to push them through and lift up the bonnet from te front.

With the bonnet catches in the locked position, I reckon that could be a bit of a PITA.

You'll snap the rear of the bonnet trying that.

laugh

Now I think about it, and the amount of times mine have broke..... If your bonnet has got the slightest bit of "rattle" in it at either corner, with a slight pull towards the centre of the car, you'll almost certainly lift the thing.

Probably snap one of the plastic things at the end, but Power has them in stock.

I've done a mod on mine, so that the bonnet has no "give/rattle" so wouldn't try it, but on most Cerbs, the rubber grommet is going to be knackered/missing.

I wasnt recomending hoisting up with all your strength ! smile Just though it might give a bit of room to get a trained octopus in to put some jump leads on.
T think Russelm's idea below may be worth trying as well, but shouldn't you be pulling the rear (windscreen) edge of the bonnet away from the centrt?
Also I just had a look in the boot of my car, the emergency handle thingy is held in place by 4 pop rivets, drill them out and you might be lucky and manage to get a mole-grip onto the cable.

Brilliant guys. I just pushed the bonet over one way and lifted it a little, and it poped out of the holder, did the same on the other side whilst someone held the other side above the catch and hey presto the bonet lifted up. Phewie what a drama. Now time to jump start!

Really appreciate it. I am so happy. Thanks all who have contributed.biggrin

Good old Cerbera bonnet mechanism.

I'd put that down on your "list of things to do"

From experience, any kind of rattle on the bonnet, means it could let go, normally hitting a dip at high speed on the motorway.

I'd check the rubber washers are in place at either end, and let the rods out a bit, so that they let the white plastic plungers, go nearer to the sides of the car.

You'll know when you've got it right, you'll need "Geoff Capes" like strength, to lock it. smile
