Seems to be something about the batley area that is throwing up some rare old cars,
Seen the usual old Fords etc but two weeks ago saw a Austin Maestro Turbo which was in top nick...
But today near Ikea in Birstal saw one if these, which should have rusted to nothing years ago..

Young lad driving and really made me smile..

Wow, IKEA is just round the corner from my house, but luckily I haven't been fortunate enough to spot this stunning vehicle of which you speak! Did see a Jaguar XK150 today though, both really rare and unlike the stunner pictured above, it's quite desirable too!

A couple of weeks ago I set off on the drive down to Devon. Driving along my road I was followed by a car I had never seen before - one of these.

others http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C23340?pt=pf

:smitten: I didn't know what the hell it was apart from obviously an Alpha. So I let it pass me, but that didn't make me any the wiser but it did sound sweet.

Then around Cheltenham, I then spotted another one!. Two in the same day???

Acording to the Alpha website it was a Alpha Montreal 2.6l V8 with 200hp, I bet thats a bit of a handful. biggrin

After a bit of digging it would appear the above car live quite near to me in Halifax - never seen it before but I bet it lives quite close to me judging by the pics.

I once rebuilt one of those Alfa Montreal V8 engines.
Utterly beautiful piece of engineering but, my god, it was so complex. Every torque setting and clearance had to be absolutely perfect.
It was very like an F1 engine in many ways.
Lovely car but the maintenance is definitely not for the faint hearted!

Is that Classic car place still open in Keighley (I can't remember what the hell it is called)?

They used to be on Halifax road but moved a few years ago, they always had some nice stock in.

That Yellow Montreal was recently sold, the owner had a mint GTV V6 Turbo with about 7000 miles on the clock that he also sold, I don't know the back story to this but that Zoe Yellow Montreal was probably one of the best in the country it was in pristine condition.

It was up on ebay of all places. I've also seen a blue/silver Montreal parked outside the prestige car servicing place in Hellifield out past Skipton.

Kinda spooky that....
I wonder how many there were in that colour - because the engine I rebuilt was in an immaculate car exactly like that one! I do remember that the owner was from Peterborough but it was over 20 years ago.....

I saw the ad and a bit of me wanted to ring up just to waste his time and have a look. Its a halifax number and the pics looked like they were within about 1/2 mile of my house.

Me too wink

Luddendenfoot here smile

On another note, dunno if it's REALLY rare but I;ve only ever seen 2 on the road. There's a nice Yellow Clio V6 creeping around between Copley and Elland most mornings/evenings.

Yum biggrin

Nice McLaren Mercedes SLR on the M1 last night near MK. Personalised plate and tinted glass as you'd expect. First time I've seen one on the road .

The owner apparently works at Copley Data Centre HBOS, so one of the TVR lads from sundays run probably knows more. (he works there too)

Very close! The engine was a "road tuned" version of the one in the T33 racer. All aluminium, quad cam, 2.6 V8. Fantastic lump, amazing noise.
