Thanks, I may well do that. My car is an 2006 (05 model) CV8 with the red painted "Monaro" calipers, I read somewhere these were upgraded over the 04 model, does that mean they are already the same as the VXR brakes ?

not the same - kind of halfway house between the 04 cv8 and the VXR. Don't know that you'd notice a huge improvement.

Looks like I need APs then? I might try the uprated pads and fluid first as 2.5k is a lot to spend on a fast-depreciating car, especially as I've already added a Wortec exhaust and Supercharger!

as an 05 owner i would say the brakes are brilliant if your mum was driving to sainsbury's. Tried a few 150 lepton-70 lepton brakes recently and can only say if you decide to travel at said leptons, expect to cross several continents before you stop....... REALLY.
Can't comment on AP's but have heard they are the dogs bo??ocks i reckon>
