Thought I would post up a few piccies from the wee bro's wedding back in Scotland a fornight ago at Solsgirth House (near Dollar), or for the car orientated it's only a stones throw from Knockhill...

I must admit I was a bit uncertain when the bro and his wife to be approached me to do the pics on their big day as my tog background is cars, cars and emmm, more cars whether they be individual car shoots or catching the action on track or out in the forests following rallies...

To add to the tog duty I was already enlisted as the best man, so I really was wondering just how things would work out, and as such suggested the pair come over to Ireland back in February of this year so we could spend a day or so going over exactly what they wanted to achieve from the pics and for them to get completely comfortable with a camera pointed at them (especially with an older brother behind it). Thankfully all went well and the pair were soon at ease in front of the lens and we actually snapped some really cool pics up at the likes of the Giants Causeway and Martello Tower in NI.

Between February and a fortnight ago there was very little communication on the pics side of things until around a week before when it was obvious the nerves were started to kick in on the pair of them, and I think they finally realised that with me doing the best man duties I would need a bit of assistance, so they spoke to some of their friends that were coming along and they agreed to take my 2 backup cameras during various points during the day to shoot the more candid or random images that I would miss due to everything else I was having to look after...

Anyhow, enough background methinks and on with some pics from the day...

First up after a day or almost solid rain up at Solsgirth House the bro was a little aprehensive about whether it would stay dry or not as their wish was to be married at the top of the stairs to the grass with all the guests seated in the forecourt at the base of the stairs. The owners of the house gave a 1hr deadline as far as setting up the seating and at the 1hr point it was drizzling and they took it upon themselves to set it up inside much to my brothers dismay when he arrived outside with 40mins to go. There then followed around 10mins of looking at the sky, frantic conversations and elongated what if's, buts and emm's, and finally I asked him would he rather everyone get a little bit wet at worst but Kathryn get exactly what she had wanted, or for Kathryn to walk out expecting to be on the stairs and discover everything moved inside and not be too happy - this was followed with a cry of rallying action to the guys dottering around and within 5mins we had all set up outside just as the pair wanted...phew!

A quick shot from the back of the assembled families and friends looking up the steps to where the B&G were exchanging their vows

After the ceremony we had set up a champagne reception in the courtyard area which allowed everyone time to congratulate the couple and the staff time to move the seats to allow us to use the steps as the main area for the standard family wedding pics etc

A few pics of Bryan & Kathryn coming to terms with the fact that they were now husband and wife

With the wedding taking place at the end of September we always knew we were going to have the fingers crossed for the weather especially in that neck of the woods as anyone who has frequented Knockhill over the years will know just how changeable it can be at a moments notice, and with that in mind an umbrella was created using the same material as the dress by the designer Kathryn decided to use - so we decided to use the umbrella as a prop in a few of the pics

The good thing with using big stately homes is you normally find a nice flower garden or the likes within easy walking distance, but with Solsgirth House it was mainly green, green and some more green, so instead of getting pics with brightly coloured flowers etc we decided to utilise a pathway round to the side of the house which was enveloped in trees which for all intents and purposes served as a natural archway

Back round at the courtyard the guests were all busy with their champagne which gave us a little bit of breathing space to snap a few pics now at the base of the stairs etc which was now clear of all chairs and what have you

To keep the younger guests happy a few toys were on hand courtesy of the bride and groom, and some of the older guests seemed to like the idea of a quick game of footy too

I think one of the big advantages to shooting the wedding was the fact that I know the 2 of them so well, and as such we were able to remain very relaxed during the whole snapping process and in doing so many of the candid shots taken show them having a great laugh together and those smiles and laughing faces made for so many great pics on the day.

Cheers for the comments guys...I hate doing people pics, cars are so much easier to work with as they don't look away or give you a scowl when you tell them to do something they don't want to biggrin

Some lovely images there. The thing for me is that they look comfortable in front of the lens. Top work, I'm sure they'll be really happy with these, I would have been thumbup
