Private forum request

Garlick, Ted, Racing Pete (or whomever deals with this stuff now),

There are quite a number of us (over 60 and rising) who play a little game called Inselkampf. Would it be possible to have a private forum a la Lottoheads/Shareheads et al. We don't want our pesky competitor alliances to gain the upper hand on us you see (it literally is a matter of life and death, well, by literally, I mean virtual world literally).

Private Forum.

Great idea, we are now well inside the top 30 alliances(out of hundreds) and are being seen as a significant but unquantifyable threat amongst established players.

Why not buy a domain, get a vserver from someone like JamieBeeston, Muncher, etc. and run phpBB on it yourself? Total control.

Or if that is too much for you, why not start a Yahoo Group and make it members only?

Asking PistonHeads to do it for you is just lazy IMO.

I'd happily chip a few quid in if we were to go that route, being as it's quite obviously going to be a long term interest for some of us, but being as we're all PH'ers in the collective it'd be nice if we had somewhere nearer to our internet home

It's a group of players eminating from Pistonheads, just as Lottoheads/Lottoheads2/Shareheads is. I see no reason at all why it can't be implemented within the PH network. The cost implications will be negligable.

We could buy a domain, infact, I could set one up within one of the websites I have hosted with JamieB at the moment. That's not the point though, we're a pistonheads alliance and there is no reason why we should take it off the forum and segregate ourselves.

I have things built all over my island now, do I just upgrade them all now? or do i need to buy troops?

keep upgrading the mine / quarry and lumber till you get to 8-10 or so (takes ages) and the valuables will fast start flooding in. once you've done that get the main house upgraded and unlock new stuff and just build and upgrade everything you can.
That seems to be the way others including myself have done it and it's working ok, just be sure your storehouse is suitably sized so you don't get pillaged.
There's a link on the forums over on inselkampf ( click alliances then topics if you've not found it) and somewhere there's a thread I started called helpful link for newbies, links in there and it's a plethora of useful information).
