I love the liquid cooled oil cooler. I have checked with them and they are $1099 inc shipping, but they drop in price if they can ship a number together. Anyone else interested?

I am assuming the UK VAT is on top of whatever we can get the US price down to.

Cant see they do much, but they have put together a kit specifically for the Noble (although how hard that is I don't know?). Maybe someone has fitted a Laminova one and can advise?

RacePrecision's is a full kit, including alll the necessary pipes and hoses. I've looked into these and intend getting one. On a separate note, i'm also developing a similar kit for MR2 Turbos (my business).

So if there is a GB going on, i'm in.

On a further note, Laminova make a "twin chamber" unit, where the second chamber could be used for cooling the gearbox oil. Should I go that way, then i'll use the RacePrecision unit on an MR2 and order a twin chamber unit from Think Automotive, the UK importer of Laminova coolers.

I've used the mocal laminova units on a turbo/nitrous street/drag bike before with good results.
I have a couple I'm going to fit to Nobby one for G/box and possibly one for engine.

Would it be possible to get a kit made up in the UK? That would save a lot of the cost in shipping.

Anyone up for the challenge as i've got enough on my plate with the carbon fibre stuff. Looks like there are a few takers.

most of the turbocharged fords came standard with a water/oil cooler

basically it screws to the oil feed before the oil filter and is about the diameter of an oil filter

I've not had a good look but i reckon you could get one to fit

you can see one here - the oil filter bolts on top of it

They use the standard cooling system of the car to keep the oil cool

How efficient were they? looks a little short on surface area for heat exchange.
The laminova units have a core of fins all the way through to help with heat exchange.

Mike, M12's already have a similar "cooler" fitted as standard....

I guessed they did have one fitted already, but was not sure if Noble had removed it to save space - lots of owners have fitted aftrermarket oil coolers

so no need to buy a water to oil cooler - you already have one

The simplest solution here is to plumb in your own water radiator and pump to the oil cooler and take the heat off the cooling sytem. Or fit a better raditor up front !

If any of you have any questions about the oil cooler kit, feel free to ask. I will be happy to answer any questions. We have shipped a few of these kits to the UK already and shipping prices are always an issue. Our prices are very reasonable however so, you guys should still be able to save on this kit over having a front mount cooler installed. Installation time on this oil cooler kit is about 3-4 hours. I can provide step by step instructions for you guys also.

Some info about the kit. We spent about 4 months developing this kit. We wanted something that worked and was fairly easy to install. We tried different piping methods, mounting locations, etc. The cooler is the largest off the shelf cooler Mocal makes. The great thing about this set up is that your oil will warm up fairly quickly and maintain consistant temperatures with the coolant afterwards.

Might be worth looking at the coolant drainage kit too. It should not add much to the shipping costs. I picked up one of these oil cooler kits when I was in the States recently, now I just have to find the time to fit it! The kit comes with some very good photos showing how to install it.

Dear Richard,
This will solve the overheating oil issue but it will not solve the heatsoaked IC issue. Its a very elegant solution for oil temp stability (i.e. getting to operating temp more rapidly) as well as oil temp control ( keeping it at operating temp once its there). But I repeat it will not have any effect on the heatsoaking of the IC.

Paul is correct. It will do nothing for the IC heat soak issue. As far as water injection, we have used it with good results on an M12 here. So far, the ecu adjusts accordingly to the IAT temps already so I cant say how much it had improved.

Adding the coolant drain plug to an oil cooler kit wont affect the shipping cost as it weighs about 1 lbs so I can toss it in there. It literally makes draining your coolant a dream. All you do is turn your wheel to the right, put a pan under and uncap the drain plug.

I realise the IC heat soak issue won't be resolved by the oil cooler but it will manage temps better on track days. The IC issue will be dealt with later on.

I will be happy to deal with RPi if anyone else wants something at the same time.
