Strange missfires
Discussion
HELP PLEASE?
Car is severely missfiring/ hesitating at 5900 RPM.
It only does this when I accelerate hard, to say take over someone. It is however fine if I take it to that point gradually.
It is really annoying and quite a violent hesitation.
I have thought possibly the coils and also the head gasket, but with the latter the coolant seams to be fine and not containing any oil.
Any ideas would be gratefully received!
I seam to be on here all the time asking questions about faults.
Quite a handy website.

Hi Alan
I had exactly the same fault, and the cause was the coil pack.
These weigh in at about 70 quid - see here..., and are a doddle to change
It may be your HT leads or a duff spark plug though.
When was your car last serviced? If it's due one, then that would eliminate the plugs, and you could get the leads checked at the same time.
All things being equal - I'd get the lot changed and be done with it!
