Worrying smell

My Chimaera (4 litre pre-serp) has developed a rather worrying fault. When starting from cold/coolish everything is okay but, when starting from hot I get a strong smell of petrol in the passenger compartment. This lasts only for a few seconds and only happens when hot starting.

The car's fuel consumption hasn't changed and the car has only recently been subjected to a full body off chassis rebuild which included replacement of all fuel lines.

Any ideas?

Sorry if it seems like an obvious thing to say but the fuel pipes are just above the footwell I believe, I know you've got new pipes but maybe one has come loose ??
